What is a tone generator for?
It can be used to check how a speaker responds to different frequencies, identify distortion or perform simple audio tests. A single tone does not diagnose a device fault by itself.
Common frequencies
165–230 Hz is commonly used in tools intended to move water away from the speaker area; 440 Hz is the usual reference for the note A; 1 kHz is useful for basic audio checks.
